Red Wings solve code to upend Rangers in overtime

For all but 30 seconds, the Detroit Red Wings struggled to solve the problem that was opposing goal Henrik Lundqvist.
The Red Wings only scored once in that time frame despite racking up 37 shots on goal.
But Brad Richards finally solved Lundqvist’s riddle late in the third period to send the game into overtime, and Darren Helm found the winning shot in the extra frame to give Detroit the unlikely win.
“He’s a great goalie, a lot of big saves tonight. It was fortunate to get him when he was out of position there in the end,” Richards said. “You’ve just got to keep peppering him.”
